What is spiritual care?

We explore a difficult issue that has recently arisen for you. We identify how you are making meaning from this issue, especially if there is any existential distress. Spiritual care is usually short-term, maybe a few visits or a few weeks to a month. You determine the frequency. It is not psychotherapy, which generally follows a treatment plan to address a mental health condition.

 

What is spiritual accompaniment?

We explore and deepen your connection with something greater than yourself that feels meaningful. What makes your soul feel connected? Peaceful? Let's go there together. You decide the frequency; typically we meet once a month.

What can you expect?

After a free 30-minute session to see if we are a good fit, I offer 60-minute sessions by phone, Zoom, or in person near Burlington, Vermont. All sessions are confidential. You decide how frequently you'd like to meet.

 

​How much does it cost?

My fee for spiritual care and spiritual accompaniment is $100/session. Please let me know if this poses a barrier, and we can arrange a sliding rate.

After many years writing and editing for the international development sector, I am focused on my own writing, which you can follow via Substack. However, you can always reach out to check my availability and rates for writing and editing.

 

What are your credentials?

I bring 30 years of experience in healthcare, humanitarian assistance, international development, education, and sustainability. I earned a Master of Divinity from the Iliff School of Theology; a Master's in International Development and an MBA from American University; and a Bachelor's in Psychology from Georgetown University. I am a Board Certified Chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains. I earned an End of Life Doula Certificate from the University of Vermont and a Diploma in the Art of Spiritual Direction from San Francisco Theological Seminary. I have worked for years in hospice, hospitals, and humanitarian crises, both on-the-ground and in administrative roles.
